Dianne and I spent a couple of days at Yosemite – without the crowds! It’s true we lucked out on weather (sunny both days) but it was so pleasant to wander the valley and the trails without the summer madness that we’d recommend it to anyone.
The Ahwahnee Hotel
Historic, charming, quirky, elegant, and overpriced. The hotel was built as a place to charm wealthy donors into supporting the national parks during their early days.

Walking Around the Valley

Up the John Muir Trail to Vernal Falls
We took the first few miles of the John Muir Trail up out of the valley heading towards Tuolumne Meadows.
